Summary

Tolkien’s classic epic fantasy trilogy The Lord of the Rings, updated with a fresh new package for Book 2, The Two Towers

Frodo and his Companions of the Ring have been beset by danger during their quest to prevent the Ruling Ring from falling into the hands of the Dark Lord by destroying it in the Cracks of Doom。 They lost the wizard Gandalf in the Mines of Moria。 And Boromir, seduced by the power of the Ring, tried to seize it by force。 While Frodo and Sam made their escape, the rest of the company was attacked by Orcs。

Now they continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin—alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go。

Much better than the first in the trilogy! My last favorite characters either died quickly or were not present in the majority of the chapters。 Had I known that this was a more enjoyable book, I would have tried reading the trilogy much earlier。

Bra men problem med pacing tycker jag。Man får olika karaktärers synviklar men tiden spolas tillbaka när man bytar perspektiv

Sometimes you gotta just read about some hobbits。

Prundeanu Ciprian

Struggled a bit more with this one than with the first one, although, much like the movie, it is more action packed。

Frodo is a cunt in the books

Best fantasy serie ever。

It's like in the great stories, Mr。 Frodo。 The ones that really mattered。 Full of darkness and danger they were。 And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing… this shadow。 Even darkness must pass。 It's like in the great stories, Mr。 Frodo。 The ones that really mattered。 Full of darkness and danger they were。 And sometimes you didn't want to know the end… because how could the end be happy?

3。5 stars。 Re-read, of course。 Truth to tell, this one's a little repetitive and, gasp, dull every now and then。 But man oh man, did Peter Jackson and Co。 nail the Ents and Gollum! 3。5 stars。 Re-read, of course。 Truth to tell, this one's a little repetitive and, gasp, dull every now and then。 But man oh man, did Peter Jackson and Co。 nail the Ents and Gollum! 。。。more

Don't have much to say about this one。 It's a reread。。。it's great。。。the end。 But seriously。。。this series is very good and even though they are not favorites of all time。。。they are great stories and it's so easy to get lost in this world。 The Lord of the Rings audiobooks are NOT as amazing as The Hobbit version that is narrated by Andy Serkis。。。but they are still very good and I recommend them。 I'm enjoying listening to this series at work。 Don't have much to say about this one。 It's a reread。。。it's great。。。the end。 But seriously。。。this series is very good and even though they are not favorites of all time。。。they are great stories and it's so easy to get lost in this world。 The Lord of the Rings audiobooks are NOT as amazing as The Hobbit version that is narrated by Andy Serkis。。。but they are still very good and I recommend them。 I'm enjoying listening to this series at work。 。。。more

Almost docked a star because Legolas didn't slide down the stairs at Helm's Deep。 (PS Liked reading this one better than Fellowship。 There's something about taking hobbits to Isengard that does it for me。) Almost docked a star because Legolas didn't slide down the stairs at Helm's Deep。 (PS Liked reading this one better than Fellowship。 There's something about taking hobbits to Isengard that does it for me。) 。。。more

I was struggling with the pace, but the book is just different than the movies。 So much more info, especially with Frodo, Sam, and Gollum。 It took a while to read it, but man I am hyped now。 Middle earth 4ever :D!

Rosie

Definitely less downtime in this book, though the travel period with Frodo and Sam was very long。 As before really love the audio book narrator, very good at swapping between the characters quickly

Vendela

Inte lika underhållande som den första。 Men Samwise, vilken otrolig karaktär。 Jag är helt hänförd av relationen mellan honom och Frodo。

Hoo boy, this one was amazing。 Fellowship of the Ring was a bit slow going (though still fantastic), but this is absolutely the book where the LOTR story starts coming together。 I can think of so many powerful moments in this novel that hyped me up and kept me desperate to read more。 If it wasn't all clear in Fellowship, then Tolkien's genius is certainly evident in The Two Towers, and it makes me all the more excited to read the tale's conclusion in Return of the King。 Hoo boy, this one was amazing。 Fellowship of the Ring was a bit slow going (though still fantastic), but this is absolutely the book where the LOTR story starts coming together。 I can think of so many powerful moments in this novel that hyped me up and kept me desperate to read more。 If it wasn't all clear in Fellowship, then Tolkien's genius is certainly evident in The Two Towers, and it makes me all the more excited to read the tale's conclusion in Return of the King。 。。。more

Samwise Gamgee might be the greatest side character ever written and brought to life on pages。 This story is amazing and Tolkien is mind bending。

WHOOOThis one flew by for me。 I like how Tolkien divided the story - no messing around with alternating chapters, which was relaxing, and the callbacks in Book 4 to what was happening in Book 3 simultaneously seemed very bardic。

A classic。 Robert Inglis’ narration is pure brilliance。

The Lord of the Rings is my favorite fantasy series ever。 I swear these books get better and better every time I re-read them。The Two Towers follows the journey of the beloved characters after the breaking of the fellowship。 Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are tracking the Uruk-Hai in the hope of saving Merry and Pippin。 Sam and Frodo continue their perilous journey to Mordor, with a new companion in tow。I love the way the book is split into two completely separate journeys。 The first half is told m The Lord of the Rings is my favorite fantasy series ever。 I swear these books get better and better every time I re-read them。The Two Towers follows the journey of the beloved characters after the breaking of the fellowship。 Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are tracking the Uruk-Hai in the hope of saving Merry and Pippin。 Sam and Frodo continue their perilous journey to Mordor, with a new companion in tow。I love the way the book is split into two completely separate journeys。 The first half is told mainly from Aragorn's perspective and the journey from Amon Hen, through Fangorn, to Rohan and Helms Deep, and finally Isengard。 The second half of the book covers Frodo and Sam from the Emyn Muil, through the marshes, into the country of Gondor, and finally the dark lands。 I love that these books have the maps in them。 I like looking at the maps and tracking the characters journeys throughout Middle Earth。Tolkien writes so beautifully。 The world building is truly amazing and so richly detailed。 Each character in this series has their own distinct personality, traits, and voice。 There are so many new and endearing characters in this book, such as Treebeard, Eomer, Theoden, Faramir, and even Smeagol。There isn't a dull moment in this book and the anticipation just keeps building throughout。 The ending is so fantastic - a real cliffhanger that leaves me wanting to pick up the next book immediately (even though I've read it so many times and know what's going to happen!)。Thank you Tolkien for creating this amazing world and it's characters! 。。。more

I struggled with this one。 Literally kept falling asleep while reading。 That has never happened before。 I loved some parts, but others I just couldn’t wait to be done with。

Wow。 The Fellowship of the Ring was so difficult for me to get through, but this was I actually enjoyed from the start。 I didn't love the second half of the book, where Frodo, Sam, and Gollum are constantly agitated, but I understand the need to move the plot along。 Treebeard is amazing。 Legolas and Gimli are the best。 Wow。 The Fellowship of the Ring was so difficult for me to get through, but this was I actually enjoyed from the start。 I didn't love the second half of the book, where Frodo, Sam, and Gollum are constantly agitated, but I understand the need to move the plot along。 Treebeard is amazing。 Legolas and Gimli are the best。 。。。more

Absolutely spectacular! Although the LOTR movies are wonderful, nothing is quite as beautiful as the writing which they are based off of (but is that even a surprise?)。 I loved to see the branching off of the story as each group of characters went on their part of the broader quest to salvage what they hold dear in Middle Earth。 I'm in love with Tolkien's poetry and gorgeous descriptions of the world his characters journey across。 I find that although everything is so fantastical and far-off fro Absolutely spectacular!
